While it seemed that Jack Nicholson was the Lakers‘ lucky charm on Monday as the team confirmed their third victory in the Western Conference semifinals, it was Matthew McConaughey and Dave Chappelle that were the Warriors’ equivalent in game 5.
It was in the presence of the Texan Hollywood superstar and the Candian comedian and actor that the Warriors were able to reduce their deficit to 3-2 in the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinals games.
For Curry’s side it was a must win match, and it was precisely Steph’s contributions that inspired his team to a 121-106 victory. The point guard registered 27 points on the night to keep his team’s hopes alive.
Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green added 25 and 20 points respectively to their team’s 121 total.
The latter was actually spotted after the game greeting lucky charm Matthew McConaughey. They were filmed greeting each other with a warm embrace after the vital win. Chappelle, in his typically funny fashion, got the crowd super hyped when cameras projected him onto the big screens.
The Warriors once again are obliged to win in their next game against the Lakers, otherwise they mathematically won’t be able to close the gap with the Los Angeles side.
