Motheo Khoaripe (in for Bruce Whitfield) will get remark from Chris Yelland, power analyst and MD of EE Enterprise Intelligence.

Yelland describes the transfer as “an enormous step ahead”.

… a part of the liberalisation of the electrical energy provide trade… a giant change in Eskom’s pondering… It’s now encouraging making land use **and** grid connections accessible to non-public builders to construct impartial energy producer (IPP) vegetation…

Yelland clarifies that this electrical energy shall be delivered to industries that want this energy and “to not you and me”.

… supplying this energy from the IPPs on to the offtaker, that’s massive trade in that space (and you may guess who the biggest trade in that space is!).

It will relieve Eskom of a burden it’s presently unable to satisfy Yelland says.

“It’s going to enable you and me by lowering load shedding… by lowering demand on the Eskom system it implies that we could possibly be relieved of load shedding.”

Let’s simply say 1,000 MW is delivered from the brand new turbines to the offtakers, relieving Eskom… that can scale back load shedding by one stage. They’re speaking about 1,800 MW – that is shut on two levels of load shedding!
