Taiwo Awoniyi scored the winning goal as Nottingham Forest eased their relegation worries following a 1-0 win against Arsenal at the City Ground on Saturday.

Awoniyi opened scoring for the Tricky Trees on 19 minutes.

The Nigeria international met Morgan Gibbs-White’s pass and slotted the ball past Aaron Ramsdale.

The 25-year-old made history as the first Nottingham Forest player to score in three consecutive league games.

He scored a brace each in Steve Cooper’s previous two games Southampton and Chelsea.

Awoniyi has now scored 10 goals and recorded one assist in 26 league appearances for the Reds this season.

The striker was replaced by Brennan Johnson 11 minutes from time.
