Case of VBS heist accused Thabo Mokwena postponed to Feb

Thabo Mokoena appeared within the Molopo Magistrates Courtroom on Tuesday on expenses referring to the contravention of the Municipal Finance Administration Act.

JOHANNESBURG – The case in opposition to a former Mafikeng municipal supervisor implicated within the VBS Mutual Financial institution case has been postponed to February.

Thabo Mokwena appeared within the Molopo Magistrates Courtroom on Tuesday on expenses referring to the contravention of the Municipal Finance Administration Act.

Mokwena is implicated within the irregular funding of R92 million of the Mafikeng Native Municipality’s funds into the now defunct financial institution.

The NPA’s Henry Mamothame stated they had been able to proceed with the trial: “The State declared a disclosure in courtroom at present and it indicated its intent to offer Mokoena’s defence staff with all of the contents of the docket for them to check it and put together for trial. Investigations into the case have been concluded and the State is able to go for trial.”

Earlier, the Hawks arrested three folks linked to the VBS heist, a chief monetary officer, a former municipal supervisor of the Fetakgomo-Better Tubatse Municipality in Limpopo and a non-public enterprise proprietor.
